1,000 Deviation Limit When Running Searches?Here's something new. I don't know when the administrators decided to do this, but there is now a 1,000 Deviation limit whenever you run search queries here at DeviantArt. Here is an example: http://browse.deviantart.com/?q=star%20wars&order=9&offset=1008
I have to ask: why did we not receive a notification about this change? To me, this feels like the deployment of DeviantArt Version 7 all over again. Unless you kept close tabs on the administrator and developers or were a beta-tester, there really was no notice about Version 7 being released. Just like this considerable and probably unwise change.
I think this new limit in the Search system is going to hinder the community here more than help it. How so? Well, you will no longer be able to search for older Deviations, especially if your search is for something general like "Aliens", "Cars", "Clouds", etc.
So, if your Deviations are about a very well-known subject, (Such as Star Wars, Twilight, Pokemon, Halo, etc) unless your work is1,000 Deviation Limit When Running Searches? by *DrMackFoxx

Hey everyone still here!

...*Crickets chirp*... xD

But no seriously, I am sorry, once again for disappearing on you all. I've let a lot of lovely people fall completely off-radar, and not just on dA. I won't really go into it, because it hasn't stopped, but essentially my plan to come home after uni, have a rest and regroup, then get a job, went wrong.

Like, laughably wrong. This pretty much sums it up.

And now I'm sort of gradually working the courage back up to talk to everybody again who I've neglected, only it's really not going well because I'm a giant moron. xD So here's a little shout out to everyone still around that I'm not dead, that I'm really sorry, and that I can't actually promise any sort of speedy return to normal apocalypsebunny operation like I have in the past (and failed to stick to anyway), but I'm working on it. And please don't think I'm fishing for anything at all - I quite literally just wanted to wave at you all and say where the buggery I'd been. xD

Hello long time no see - I have come to pick your brains!

Your traditional art work always comes out so perfect, when I try and scan pictures I lose quality and colour. What is your secret??

Heeeeeeey :3 Sorry I'm so late replying - I sort of went on a year's account hiatus there. xD It's been too long! How're you doing?

Hmm, it's difficult to say without seeing your process. A good, clean scanner helps for a start xD I've got a CanoScan LiDE 200, I think. I scan at 350dpi because I'm an obsessive nut. And I always go through the most advanced settings and basically strip all the options down so that it's making no adjustments to the scanned image. A lot of them will do things like auto-contrast etc. I prefer to do those things in photoshop, where I have the greatest control over them. And then I sort of...go about trying to make the scan look like the real thing. I'll levels and dodge (on highlights mode) to get the backgrounds of pencil stuff white, and I learnt the trick of duplicating the layer, using a 1px median filter on it and then setting it to darken to fill in the little unwanted white gaps you sometimes get because of paper texture. Colour balance is a wonderful tool, too. xD Er, I can't think of much else generic offhand - is there anything specific you wanted to know?

Yeah, I was at the Expo with Robin on the Saturday. We ended up at the drawing tables several times, and I think I was doing some of the MLPs in realism or something xDDD I don't know if what you saw was me though. If it was, you should've come over and said hi!
